Rubric generator
Describe the assignment and get a grading rubric: clear criteria, a description for every performance level, and a total score line. Edit any cell, then print it or paste it into Google Sheets or Excel.
Tips for using it
Describe what students hand in
“Five-paragraph persuasive essay about school uniforms” gives a sharper rubric than “essay”. Mention length, format or anything you'll grade on.
Share it before the assignment
Students do better work when they know what each level looks like. Hand out the rubric with the task, not just with the grade.
Edit the language
Click any cell to change the wording to match your standards or your students' reading level before you print.
Four levels avoid the middle
An even number of levels stops everything landing in the middle column. Use three levels for quick checks and five for big projects.
